1860s Abraham Lincoln CDV
Toronto, ON: O. Thompson, 1860s. CDV Photograph. A fine, albumen vinette CDV photograph of the 16th US president, taken from his right side to give us a steady, and uncommon, direct stare from his soulful eyes. CDV w. just a touch of soil, else clean and bright. Verso with the uncommon back stamp of Toronto photographer O. Thompson, so likely either a bootleg image or a copy photo from an image originally made by Gardner, Brady or, from a very similar engraving by Currier & Ives (most likely) and repurposed here by a talented photo worker for an admiring Canadian market. Fine. Item #5634
