n.p. [1875]. Mounted Photograph. A contemporaneously annotated bird's-eye view of the booming mining town of Georgetown, Colorado. We date this image to circa 1875, as the "1873 - YATES HOUSE - 1873" sign is visible above the hotel, and there are no signs of the railroad yet, which arrived in August, 1877. An albumen photograph, measuring 4 x 2.25 inches wide, mounted onto a CDV measuring 4-1/8 x 2.5 inches wide. Photo with some fading, minor spotting and a stray pencil mark at upper right corner, card w. a touch edge wear, insignificant soil to verso and pencil caption "Georgetown" at bottom edge. Red ink annotations include showing a mine trail and smelter in the distance, various buildings and empty town lots of interest to the annotator. A horse stable sign is also visible to the left side of the hotel. Very Good. Item #5597
