[Kootenay] 1912 Photo of Nelson's Eagle Band at the Outlet Hotel in Procter, BC
Nelson, BC: McGregor's Studio, 1912. Mounted Photograph. A circa 1912 photo of Nelson's uniformed Eagle Band at The Outlet Hotel in Procter, B.C., measuring 7.5 x 9.75 inch wide, on an 10 x 12 inch wide mount, with an exhibition tag stapled onto the recto at bottom left, and a typewritten ID tag hinged onto the verso, listing the names of the sitters. The "1st Kootenay Historical Exhibit" exhibition tag likely dates from circa 1932, when the Nelson Oldtimers Association began to display historical exhibitions in store windows for annual Fall Fairs, see p. 10 "The Nelson Museum, 402 Anderson Street : A History" (2009) by Nicole Tremblay. Photo w. a few small spots, mount with minor soil and wear, verso with a stain and the donors name "Ross Fleming" in ink, all edges have been trimmed. However, we were able to recognize the "McGregor" stamp remnant at the bottom right corner from other mounted McGregor photos we have handled. The Outlet Hotel was established in Procter, B.C. in 1903, after an ownership change and additions to the previously existing Procter's Lodge. The Outlet Hotel was eventually torn down in 1966. Very Good. Item #5527
UBC's Langmann Collection of B.C. Photographs hold a different mounted McGregor photograph (dated 1913) with the same "1st Kootenay Historical Exhibit" exhibition tag stapled onto its recto.
