[Kootenay] [Rockies] Circa 1910 Elk Valley Mining, Michel Town & Area Photos

n.p. c. 1910. Loose Photographs. Four circa 1910 vernacular photographs, each measuring c. 3.5 x 3.5 inches, showing various aspects of a once vibrant East Kootenay, Rocky Mountain mining town. Photos w. minor wear, creases, spots and fading, one w. a tiny chip from upper corner - not affecting image - all still capable of revealing interesting historical details of the immediate area and surrounds. Readily identifiable in one are the Michel Bridge and Michel Colliery Plant, another shows railway trestle bridges, while another shows a tunnel entrance with scaffolding on one side, the fourth shows what appears to be the upper entrance into town and the surrounding Elk Valley landscape. Very Good. Item #5491

Today, not even a ghost town remains of the town of Michel or her adjoining neighbors, Middletown and Natal, as all three were consolidated into the single town of Sparwood, BC.
