(Kootenay) 1910 1st Nelson Scout Troop Inspection by Lord Baden-Powell at Camp Busk
Nelson, BC: 1910. A gelatin silver photograph of Lord Baden-Powell inspecting the 1st Nelson Scout Troop at Camp Busk on the Busk Estate (later Kokanee Park) in 1910, at the request of his friend, Charles Busk, who owned the camp and the estate, and founded the 1st Nelson Scout Troop in 1909. The photo measures 5 x 7.7 inches wide, and is loosely mounted with photo corners onto an album leaf measuring 10 x 13 inches wide. The white pencil caption near upper edge reads "1910 Camp Busk Inspection of First Nelson Troop by B.P." A fine image of Baden-Powell and early Kootenay Scouters. Item #5489
This 1910 inspection was the first inspection of a Scout Troop in Canada by B.P. and, it is interesting to note, that the caption refers to Lord Baden-Powell as "B.P." indicating that at the time, he was not yet "Lord Baden-Powell" - an honor that was later granted to him in 1929.
