c. 1870 Bourne & Shepherd Albumen Portrait Photo of a Gentleman in India

India: Bourne & Shepherd, [c. 1870]. A circa 1870s albumen portrait photograph of a gentleman in India, mounted onto an early Bourne & Shepherd cabinet card, signed with the photographer's credit in black fountain pen ink "Bourne & Shepherd" just above the printed "India." cabinet card location credit. Later issue Bourne & Shepherd cabinet cards had the photographer's credits printed onto the front and / or back of the cards. A fine photographic example from this highly collectible Indian studio, with a neat, company inventory number written in pencil at top left corner on verso, and a faint "V" shape somewhat noticeable within the negative, perhaps from their drying rack, or holder.
