[Kootenay] Circa 1930 Photo of New Denver, BC
n.p. Loose Photograph. A circa 1930, sepia toned 4.75 x 7 vernacular photograph of New Denver, B.C. The photo looks north across town, with the old multi-arch timber frame bridge visible in lower left, spanning Carpenter Creek. Photo w. some minor creases and soil, and the green colored back stamp of "Eastman Kodak Stores Ltd. Vancouver, B.C." who operated in Vancouver from 1928 to 1936. We date this image to the early 1930s, (shortly after Highway 6 was pushed through to Nakusp) as the fresh looking cut of the new highway can be seen running across the face of a nearby lakeside cliff. Very Good. Item #5433
An uncredited, and expansive panorama, offering views of the west Kootenay town of New Denver, Slocan Lake, and the southern Selkirk and Vahalla mountains that surround them.
