France: n.p., c. 1890. Mounted Photograph. The Thermes du Mont-Dore is a Basalt thermal Spa and architectural marvel that is located deep in the heart of France. A group of five circa 1890 matte collodion silver photographs, measuring 8 x 10.5 inches and mounted onto black, gilt edged Imperial cabinet cards measuring 11 x 8.25 inches [versos blank], all with gilt ink manuscript credits along one edge. n.b. date of c. 1890 implied from photo process and gilt-edged card mounts. Photos with modest age-related wear, mounts with a slight curl and wear to gilt edges. We are unsure if the photographer's credit reads "Tanitos." or "Ianitos" or something else, so have left the photographer credit as "Unknown". All photos show the interior and the entrance to the Spa, along with what are quite possibly, members of the photographer's party, or family. Near Fine. Item #5009
