[London]: Rossland-Kootenay Mining Co. Ltd., 1902. Share Certificate. A stock certificate for 100 shares, issued in London under the Companies' Acts 1862 to 1900 by the Rossland-Kootenay Mining Co. Ltd. to Mr. Alan Cadell of the East India United Service Club in 1902. Printed in Royal Purple onto heavy paper and countersigned three times, the certificate measures 11 tall x 13.5 inches wide and is affixed with the official "R.K.M." blind stamp company seal. Verso is printed with a transfer table and infilled with the share numbers referred to on recto. Certificate with vertical fold lines and two pin holes at upper left corner, pencil notation verso "100 Rossland Kootenay" Near Fine. Item #4400

From the Indian Biographical Dictionary "[Alan Cadell] entered Bengal Civil Service, 1862; was Commissioner of Agra and Rohilkund; Member, Board of Revenue, and Member, Legislative Council, United Provinces; acted as Lieutenant-Governor of the United Provinces, Jan. to Nov. 1895; temporary Member, Governor-General’s Council, 1895-1897; retired, 1897. Address: Clenmara, Arthur Road, Wimbledon Park. East India United Service Club." A nice example of early British investment in British Columbia mining ventures.
