Nelson, BC: n.p., 1921. Musical Score. Date from registered letter rubber stamps on verso of mailing envelope. A manuscript orchestral score, arranged with professional help during the "Roaring 20's" by Virginia Johnstone [of Johnstone Road] in Nelson, B.C., and G.B. Lombardi in Chicago, IL. Her orchestral score includes the Piano, 1st Violin, Bass, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Solo Coronet, Coronets, Trombone, Drums, Md Violin and the Viola. Also present is the original folded mailing envelope, with wax seal remnants and advertising ephemera from maestro Lombardi. The mailing envelope is worn and torn with stains and the stamps missing, all music sheets and the ephemeral pamphlet are in fine condition. Fine. Item #4225

According to the Aug. 31st, 1922 Nelson Daily News "Mrs. Johnstone of the Nelson Women's Institute extends hospitality to visiting delegates... [she] was the first advisory board member for the Kootenay Boundary [and] told a story inspired from her southern origin". Virginia was born in 1867 in Blakely, Early County, Georgia, USA. Her husband, James Johnstone was a fruit farmer on Nelson's North Shore, directly across from Nelson's municipal airport.
