[Fraternal Order] Broadside for the D.O.K.K. Ball, North Vancouver, BC

North Vancouver, BC: Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan, 1923. Broadside. An unusual broadside, and quite possibly, the lone survivor from a 1923 dance sponsored by the D.O.K.K. [Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan], a branch of the Knights of Pythias. The Ball was held at the K.P. Hall on 4th Ave. [and Chesterfield Ave.] in North Vancouver on Thursday January 4, 1923. It promised a good time for all, with "Novelty Dancing - Singing - Refreshments - [and] Real Live Music by D.O.K.K. Orchestra" with admission set at .50 cents for Ladies and .75 cents for Gents. Letterpress broadside printed in black and red ink onto stiff card measuring 12.5 x 10.5 inches wide. Broadside w. soil, staining and wear, top and bottom edges have both been trimmed but not to the point of affecting any text, a color halftone image "Her First Romance" has been pasted onto the verso and is likely why the broadside survived, as it was used as a backer for framing - now released to posterity! Good. Item #3812

"At the Orders convention in Portland that year [1923], Imperial Secretary A. L. Frey reported a membership of almost 100,000." wiki.
