The Soldier and Death : A Russian Folk Tale Told in English by Arthur Ransome (Harper's Magazine - Nov. 1922)

New York, NY: Harper & Brothers, 1922. J. Nadejen. Hardcover. Published by Harper's in their November 1922 issue, this printing of 'The Soldier and Death' precedes the Huebsch first American book printing of December, 1922 by one month and is uncommon thus. Bound volume of six issues of Harper's Magazine, Vol. 145 No. 865-870 (June-Nov. 1922). Green cloth over boards, title stamped in gilt onto spine, large 8vo (9-1/2 inches tall), pp. [i-ii], 1-844, illustrated throughout. Bound with issues slightly trimmed, without covers and ads but with all frontispieces and contents pages. Light ex-library, with minor wear to covers and some rubber stamps noted - not effecting illustrations or text, with Ransome's story and the five illustrations by J. Nadejen (pp. [734] - 743) fine and unmarked throughout. Very Good. Item #2881
