An uncommon survivor and a great piece of American entertainment memorabilia, offering entertainment and education from Shakespeare to science - including an early submarine torpedo demonstration and a famous magician. Side stapled printed paper wraps, 4to (c. 11-1/2 inches tall), pp. unpaginated (32 pages), illustrated with line drawings and B&W photo reproductions throughout. Volume with edges chipped, creases and light stains to covers, upper cover held by the center staple only, text toned with minor edge wear, else unmarked. Good. Item #2853

The Redpath Lyceum Bureau was founded by James C. Redpath in 1868 as a commercial lecture bureau and formed part of the traveling culture then popular in America. This annual sales brochure is the Long Beach Lyceum's "third Lyceum Course", and advertises their upcoming attractions for the 1917-18 season while stating that they will feature "Music, Oratory, Entertainment, Inspiration" and are "The Largest Lyceum Course in California".
