Brown paper over boards, title and decorations printed onto color paste-down of upper board, 16mo (5-3/4 inches tall), illustrated front and rear pastedowns, unpaginated (2 - 10 leaf gatherings, with first and last leaves used as pastedowns and all color illustrations bound-in), illustrated with four color plates (inc. frontis) and line drawings throughout. Volume with some rubbing and wear, a short tear to each spine end, one leaf with a dog ear fold, occasional foxing and light soil mark. Just About Very Good. Item #1651

Illustrations are dated [19]16, so assume c. 1916 publication date. Front paste-down not repeated inside, giving a total of five color illustrations by Aris, a popular artist who illustrated for Beatrix Potter as a "second string ... for her new tale, The Oakmen" as her eyesight began to fail.
