Published shortly after the gold-laden steamship Excelsior arrived in San Francisco, these reports helped to fuel the Klondike Gold Rush after hitting the news wires as the San Francisco Chronicle had the largest circulation of any newspaper on the West Coast. This issue with some great period ads and prices for planning a trip to the gold fields.
