Brown cloth over boards, title and decorations stamped in gilt onto upper boards and spines, tall 8vo (9-3/8 inches tall), pp. vol.1: x, 587; vol 2: x, 714, 4 ads., t.e.g. others untrimmed, illustrations, plates (16 col.), table and four folding maps in two pockets of vol.1. Bindings loosened, spine ends frayed, corners bumped, light soil and rubbing, some page edges with small chips. Vol.1 with damp staining to bottom edge of text block; vol. 2 with p.o. name in pencil at top of title page, a short closed tear at head of spine and a slight tilt. One map of the four has short closed tears at corner folds, else maps fine. Good plus. Item #620
