[Prairies] 1884 Stereoview of Edmonton Valley

Calgary [or Edmonton] AB: J.C. Soule, [1884]. Stereoview Card. John Cornelius Soule worked as an Architect and Photographer in Calgary from Aug. 1883 to 1885, and is known to have visited Edmonton in 1884. According to the August 23, 1884 issue of the Edmonton Bulletin, "C.J. Soule, photographer, left this morning for Battleford and Prince Albert, per skiff. Mr. Soule has taken a very interesting series of views of Edmonton and vicinity. He intends taking views of the river as he goes down." River views of which, this would be one of. A stereoview card, measuring 3-5/8 x 7-1/4 inches wide, having two 3-3/8 x 3-1/8 inch wide albumen photographs mounted on the front, one with "Edmonton Valley" in negative at lower edge. Card and photos w. some soil and toning, else a great copy of an early and important historical Prairie image. Very Good. Item #4972
