[Kootenay] 1902 Photograph Showing the Interior of a Ymir, B.C. Mine Concentrator

Nelson, B.C. Wadds Bros. 1902. Mounted Photograph. A wonderful image capturing the latest machinery being used in a Mine Concentrator in Ymir, British Columbia. It is interesting to note that this Wadds Brothers work of industrial photojournalism predates Dorothea Lange and Lewis Hine's famous American industrial photojournalism work by about 10 years. Photo measures 7.75 x 9.5 inches wide and is mounted onto a stamped photographer's card (Wadds Bros. / Vancouver and Nelson BC) measuring 12 x 14.25 inches wide. Photo is about Fine, mount w. pin holes, edge bumps, minor scratches and stains, verso with "Ymir, B.C. / 1902" and the initials "G.H.B." in black fountain pen ink. At Least Very Good. Item #4657

Ymir is a small village in the west Kootenay located just south of Nelson, B.C. It has a long history of both mining and gold strikes, which began with the famous Ymir Gold Mine in the 1890's.
