[Americana] Printed Silk Broadside "HARK YE, FROSH" - 1915 Washington State University

Pulman, WA: WSU Class of 1914, 1915. Broadside. An ephemeral sophomoric warning - with rules, insults and an invitation to a tug-of-war contest across a campus body of water "Lake De Puddle" hereby issued to the WSU freshmen class of 1915. The broadside measures 23 x 19 inches wide, is printed onto a golden-color, woven silk cloth and printed in red and black ink. A decorative border with lions depicted in blocks, bolsters the block holding the VI rules that shall govern the conduct of 1915 freshmen. Broadside w. creases, stains and soil, verso unmarked. At Least Very Good. Item #4532

The class of 1914 does not mince words in their challenge "Know, then, degenerated, supine, weak-kneed specimens of the order and Mamalia, that the festered, time rotten, worm eaten evidence of the Missing Link which are known to science, have been classified and are now known as the Class of 1915." etc., etc. An uncommon piece of American university hazing.
