[Ghost Town or Never-Was-A-Town?] Autograph Manuscript Letter Signed - Frontier Rancher in Sinclair, B.C. in 1897

Sinclair, BC: 1897. unbound letter. An early letter from British Columbia rancher John Mackay, requesting some parts and a book with an exploded view for his equipment. He includes a drawing to ensure the supplier sends the correct parts, as wait times were long when the final leg of most every necessary thing was carried by horse and wagon over rough roads. ALS, written in black fountain pen ink onto watermarked, wove paper, 8-3/8 x 5-1/4 inches wide. Paper is slightly toned with expected foldlines from mailing, a tiny puncture near the "k" in "Mackays Ranch", a few minor stains, else fine. Fine. Item #3648

We find no information about the town "Sinclair East Kootenay BC" however, from the front page of the Ft. Steele, B.C. newspaper "The Prospector" on Saturday Nov. 5th 1898, there is an article titled "Halloween at Windermere" - "A surprise party was held at Mr. John Mackay's Ranch, on Halloween..." which helps to confirm this early ranchers' place in time at the East Kootenay Ghost Town or Never-Was-A-Town? of Sinclair, B.C.
