[WW I] 1916 Canadian Military War Bible from Camp Hughes in Manitoba

London: British and Foreign Bible Society, 1916. War Time Edition. Flexible Card. Presented by The Canadian Bible Society to Canadian soldier, Private Victor Colonel Blake, as he departed from Camp Hughes for war torn Europe in 1916. Mustard colored cloth over flexible card, 16mo (5-5/8 inches tall), pp. 236, w. presentation bookplates to front pastedown and ffep. One bookplate states "Presented by The Canadian Bible Society (British and Foreign Bible Society) to the Canadian soldiers in the war of 1914. Be strong and of good courage." ; the second bookplate states "Presented to You at Camp Hughes as you leave for the Front 1916… God save the King". Volume with expected wear and creases from being carried in a pocket during battle, a black ink mark to front pastedown and some waterstains. Good. Item #3234

Blake wrote his name, personal regimental number and Saskatoon address on the rfep, from which we were able to trace his service record and discharge Case History Sheet. It sights multiple wounds received in the Battle of Passchendaele. A copy of his discharge Case History Sheet is included.
