James A. Michener Headlines in 1929 Swarthmore Performance Program as Orsino in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night"

Swarthmore, PA: Swarthmore College, 1929. Folded Sheet. Single folded sheet (7 inches tall x 5-1/2 inches wide), printed on cream colored, watermarked paper, pp. (4), titled on front "The Classes of 1929 and 1930 / of / Swarthmore College / Under the Direction of / Bretta Capster Lucas / Present / Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night; or, / What You Will' / Friday and Saturday Evenings, / May 31st and June 1st, 1929 / Collection Hall" with Mitchener headlining as Orsino, Duke of Illyria on p. (2). Program with light wear and finger soil, creasing and some pin holes near top edge from a previous mounting. Very Good. Item #2304

Michener won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948 for his book "Tales of the South Pacific" and left most of his estate and book copyrights to Swarthmore College, where he earned his bachelor's degree. A very uncommon piece of Mitchener memorabilia and a pleasant literary association of the two writers. With no other original copies located, it's unlikey that another copy will be seen any time soon.
