Originally published in 1889, this early paperback edition is not in Green & Gibson, with no other copies of this number to be found anywhere. OCLC locates just three other numbers from the Bon-Ton Library series; one copy of The Little Minister (The Bon-Ton Library, no. 258) by J M Barrie, held at Yale; Old Mam'selle's Secret (The Bon-Ton Library, no. 63) by E Marlitt, (missing) and one copy of A Study in Scarlet (Bon-Ton Library, no. 81) by A.C. Doyle, held at Indiana University. An acceptable copy of a rare survivor and a difficult and highly unusual Doyle item.
