Item #920 The Little Minister (Photoplay, Katharine Hepburn, RKO films). James M. Barrie.

The Little Minister (Photoplay, Katharine Hepburn, RKO films)

New York: J.H. Sears & Company, Inc., [c. 1934]. Photoplay Issue. Hardcover. Red cloth over boards, title and decorations stamped in black onto upper board and spine, decorative endpapers, 12mo (6-7/8 inches tall), pp. [i-ii], iv, 244. No date stated. Photo illustrated DJ with Katharine Hepburn's name misspelled as "Katherine" - susposedly one of her pet peeves. Volume with a few faint spots to top board, softened spine ends and slight toning to text block edges. DJ with heavily sunned spine, chipped spine ends, light soil, stains and edge wear with small chips at flap corners and a light crease to front flap. Near Fine / Good. Item #920

With the RKO film starring Hepburn being released in 1934, one can only assume that the publication date of this volume - with the front panel movie still of Hepburn as Babbie the gypsy - would probably have been in the same year as the film. This was the general convention for most photoplay editions. Not listed in Davis or Petaja, no jacketed copies found in the trade, WorldCat or in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science collections. Thus a mostly complete jacketed copy of what appears to be an unrecorded photoplay jacket.
